Disneyland Paris 2005

DISNEYLAND PARIS JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2005

The Leaders at the 7th have been discussing the possibility of going to Disneyland Paris for two years. We have now decided that in January/February 2005 we will take a party to Disneyland Paris.

The proposed dates are Friday 28th January 2005 (3:30 pick up – some children may need to take afternoon off school) to Sunday 30th January 2005. We are now looking at putting  the trip into February.

The cost would be around £180.

What do you get for your money?

  • Return Eurostar tickets, leaving on Friday morning and returning on SUnday evening
  • Two nights accommodation in a Disney Hotel
  • Two full day’s entry to the main Disneyland Paris theme park
  • Entry to Walt Disney Studios on Sunday
  • All meals on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday
  • Insurance

When do we have to pay?

This is to be paid in three instalments

  • £40 non-returnable deposit by 10th February 2004 (NO LATER as not in our control)
  • £60 2nd payment by 22nd June 2004
  • final payment (amount TBC) by 26th October 2004)

Who is this open to?

Leaders and their own children (or those in their care), Cubs who are invested at the time (January 2005) – therefore open to current Beavers who will be invested in Cubs by January 2005. Everyone will also need their own valid passport and an E111 available from your local post office. We can now open this to a slightly wider audience as we are organising this ourselves and not with County.

Can we afford it?

I cannot advise you on this, however we are looking at ways of bringing the cost down – the cost cannot be reduced but we can fundraise specifically for the trip if there is enough interest. We may have other trips to other places, but any substantial trips such as the Isle of Wight may be halted for now so there is not so much pressure. Our annual Cub Camp will still take place (usually around the May school holiday).

What happens next?

We need to see what interest there is and if we have enough Leaders to satisfy the ratios. We also have French and English laws and Scouting Rules for France and England to encompass. A ratio of 1:6 is required and therefore numbers may be limited.

I am therefore sending this with all Cubs and to our Beavers. Depending on interest we may even do this venture separately from the County and have it just for us depending on numbers and cost.

What should I do now?

I have a form for ALL parents of Cubs to complete which is attached and this needs to be sent back by the second week back at Cubs (January 13th 2004). Please fill this in even if not interested, then we know the form and letter reached you and will save us chasing you up for it.

I know this is a big trip, but it is not an everyday opportunity.

Here’s to a fun packed New Year – see the attached 2004 Calendar which has a great deal of our activities – we are subsidising most of these so most will have no charge.
