The Camp started just before lunchtime on Sunday 25th May and will closed at lunchtime on Thursday 29th May, with a fun water fight and challenge course - even parents were involved.

We also had a trip out for the day at Dover Castle. Wow that was a hot day!

UPDATES:

CUB CAMP UPDATE

The price has now been finalised at £77 as we now have a coach price, which does push the price up a little.

An initial non-returnable deposit of £15 is required by 29th April, with a further non-returnable deposit of £15 (totalling £30 non-returnable deposit) by 13th May.

The final payment of £47 is required by 20th May.

There is a meeting (29th April - 7:15pm) where Cubs and an adult from the family must attend to go over the rules and needs of camp. Please also note that an adult member of the family must be contactable and available during camp – this is to clarify a few queries on forms as we need a family adult now for any hospital treatment and also if there is a problem at camp or it is called short, any queries then please contact Bagheera or Akela.

LATEST UPDATE:

The meeting last week covered equipment, rules, medicines and general questions and information.

I have put a menu for you and your child to go over. Please let me know by next Tuesday (13th May) if there is anything they cannot have. The best way to do let us know is to send back the menu (paper version) with any items circled in red (so that it stands out) along with the name of the Cub on it. See link or click here for menu.

A code of conduct that will form a contract to camp will be sent home next week and this is to be signed by each Cub and Parent(s).

We also pointed out that we will need volunteers on the following days:

Thursday before camp:

As many adults (no children allowed) meet at the hall at 5:30pm to get equipment out and loaded into the removal van.

From 7pm at the site to erect tents and unload the removal van.

Friday (evening) /Saturday (morning/early afternoon) before camp:

Adults may be required to finish off tent erection and building of the site. Flagpoles, fire area, food supplies, kitchen built etc.

During Camp:

Each day we need a parent or two to bring up water and keep the fires burning.

The kitchen staff do not need help with cooking or preparation, but if anyone is willing to help with washing up that would be great.

The kitchen staff would like help on Wednesday to set up and do the BBQ – which is to be ready for around 6pm.

NEXT WEEK I WILL HAVE A TIMETABLE FOR VOLUNTEERS TO SIGN UP: this will be in the Hall - sorry not on the pages, but you can email dates you are able to help.

Camp is now over - and the next one is already being planned.

Watch this space!

STOP PRESS :  Millets in Ashford have great sale on Sleeping bags and Woolworth's and Argos have good deals on roll mats.

April 27th - The Millets offers have finished, but still have some good prices for the compressible bags.
